Zoo/Jungle Party Ideas!

A great theme and fantastic scope for decoration and fun games.  Would suit any age.

Here are some ideas to help you plan your next Zoo/Jungle themed party

Invites:

Cut a banana shape out of card stock for a monkey party

Cut animal faces out of cardstock and stick on googly eyes – See you at the Jungle party!

Include a pair of binoculars, a map or an adventure accessory so they know they will be exploring at the party

Decoration

Have some jungle music playing in the background

Hang green crepe streamers from the ceiling as Vines.  Attach some monkeys if you can.

Have a Jungle photo prop out for photo opportunities

Make Trees out of cardboard, and hang them around the party room – Add some greenery to give a jungle feel

Hire a fog machine – The fog will add a real jungle atmosphere!

Food

Make labels for food such as Snakes Eyes (grapes), dried ants (craisons) Beetle wings (chips) Monkey juice (chocolate milk) Crocodile teeth (dried apples)

Chocolate covered bananas and candy bananas are a must for a monkey party

Games and Crafts

A jungle treasure hunt.  Make maps and clues, hand out compasses and binoculars to get the kids excited about being explorers! Before you start your jungle hunt, hand out malaria pills (jellybeans) to make sure your explorers are safe!  If you live in a bush setting, this will be even better – Make sure to dot around plush animals in the leaves and bush for the kids to find.  You could search for a family of monkeys or a rare white tiger!

Animal Piñata

Pin the tail on the animal – Draw or blow up a picture of an animal and make some tails for pinning.

Monkey in the Middle

Have some play dough and animal cutters out, or colouring in pages for the kids to do between games or at the beginning and end of the party

Make Sock puppets out of old socks, googly eyes and lots of craft things

Follow the Jungle Leader

Tarzan Says (like Simon Says)

Guess the animal noise – Either tape some animal noises, or make them yourself!  The kids need to guess which animal it is.

Banana relay – In teams, the children need to run with a banana between their knees, pass it to the next person using no hands and they run back – First team all finished wins!
